Pitched ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal data when you use our website, mobile app, and related services.

Pitched is operated from Ireland and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 2018.

1. Data Controller

Pitched is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can contact us at:

2. What Data We Collect

Waitlist (website): when you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, whether you signed up as a homeowner or tradesperson, and your signup date.

Pitched app (customers and tradespeople): when you create an account and use the platform, we collect information you provide (name, email, phone where applicable, profile details, job and quote content, messages, photos, location for job matching, and payment-related data when in-app payments are enabled). Account and marketplace data are processed to operate the service — see our Terms of Service.

Analytics and usage data (with your consent): if you opt in to product analytics in the app or accept analytics cookies on our website, we collect anonymous usage information such as device type, app version, platform, feature interactions, and session patterns. We do not collect message content, job descriptions, or other free-text you enter in analytics events.

Service operation and security (legitimate interest): we use error monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g. Sentry) to detect crashes and security issues. This may include device type, app version, and technical error data — not your job or message content.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your email address to:

• Notify you when Pitched launches in Ireland
• Send occasional updates about our progress (no more than once per month before launch)
• Provide early access or special offers to waitlist members

We will not use your email for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

3A. Analytics and Usage Data

When you opt in (app) or accept analytics cookies (website), we collect usage data to improve Pitched: which features are used, funnels (e.g. job posting steps), session length, and device/app metadata. Legal basis: consent. Retention: aligned with PostHog project settings (typically up to 7 years for aggregated analytics; you may request erasure). You can withdraw consent in app Settings → Privacy & analytics or via Manage cookies on the website.

3B. Service Operation and Security

We use Sentry and similar tools to log crashes and errors. Legal basis: legitimate interest in maintaining a secure, reliable service. This is separate from optional product analytics and is not controlled by the analytics toggle.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

• Contract — processing needed to provide the Pitched marketplace (accounts, jobs, quotes, messaging).
• Consent — waitlist emails, product analytics (app opt-in and website cookie consent), and optional marketing where applicable. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interest — service security, error monitoring (Sentry), fraud prevention, and aggregated service improvement where it does not override your rights.

5. Data Sharing and Processors

We use trusted processors to run Pitched. They process data only on our instructions:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage (EU region where configured; SCCs where applicable). Privacy policy
• PostHog — product analytics when you consent (EU Cloud, Frankfurt). Privacy policy
• Sentry — error and crash reporting (legitimate interest for service reliability). Privacy policy
• Vercel — website hosting. Privacy policy
• Expo / Apple / Google — app distribution and push notifications where enabled

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use product analytics for cross-app advertising.

6. Data Retention

We retain your email address until:

• You unsubscribe from our waitlist, or
• Pitched launches and you create an account (at which point your data becomes part of your account), or
• 24 months have passed since signup without any engagement, at which point we will delete your data

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to withdraw consent — unsubscribe at any time

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) and secure database storage.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Essential: we store your cookie consent choice locally (e.g. pitched_cookie_consent in your browser) so we remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics.

Analytics (only with consent): if you accept analytics cookies on our website, PostHog may set identifiers such as ph_* cookies or local storage keys to measure page views and interactions. Purpose: understand how visitors use pitched.ie. Duration: typically up to 365 days or until you withdraw consent. You can change your choice anytime via Manage cookies in the site footer.

App: the Pitched app stores your analytics preference on your device and may sync it to your account. Analytics SDKs do not run until you opt in.

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies on the waitlist site.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify waitlist members by email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
